The Project



Like most people who reside primiarly on the East coast of the United States, I did not have a particular interest in the state of Oklahoma, before this project. The brief called for a redesign of a state, selected randomly, to encourage visitors. The concept got me thinking of what drives people to travel, is it just for fun? To take pictures? Are we trying to learn something? The answer I came up with was connection. People travel to connect with others, with other places, and with other cultures. With this in mind, I aimed to make an identity for Oklahoma that would make it a destination of connection and sharing experiences.

The logo is made from abstract shapes that leave the additional space to be filled by the interpretation of the viewer. Visually, the observer is left to complete the logo, which represents the new idea behind visiting Oklahoma. The visitor is meant to fill and complete the culture of Oklahoma, making it a community for visionaries and for group collaboration.

The additional content includes an invitation, an RSVP, and promotional materials for a new multi-disciplinary space in Oklahoma that would open alongside the unveiling of the state rebrand.
